The collection documents Byrne's undergraduate and graduate career as a student in philosophy at the University of Toronto, his teaching and research career in philosophy at Niagara and Marquette Universities, and his involvement in civic affairs in the city of Milwaukee. Includes notes and essays prepared as a student at Toronto as well as lecture notes, exams, and syllabi for courses Byrne taught at Niagara and Marquette. A significant portion of the collection relates to the Milwaukee Community Relations Social Development Commission - of which Byrne was an early member - and other Milwaukee human relations projects, including minutes, proposals, and other documents related to these groups' work.
